Dana is an award-winning editor, author, podcast host and convener who creates change through connecting and celebrating game-changing people, places and ideas.
With her new venture, Progressive Hedonist, Dana is committed to fighting the climate crisis through food and joy. Dana is sharing uplifting content on her podcast and in her newsletter that shows what is possible when we come together and take action. To spur on local efforts, Dana co-hosting potlucks with chefs across the country and facilitating grassroots PH events.
Before Progressive Hedonist, Dana founded Speaking Broadly, an event series, zine and podcast spotlighting visionary women at the intersection of creativity, sustainability and food. Through Speaking Broadly's consultancy, Dana coached creatives and advised growing companies like Dig Food Group on food and storytelling.
Dana began her career in traditional media, first at Vogue magazine, then House & Garden and finally for 21 years as Editor in Chief of Food & Wine Magazine, where she guided all editorial aspects of the brand, from print to digital to annual books. She helped introduce the food-centered lifestyle at a time when the culinary scene in America was just emerging.
Dana has written extensively on food and culture. In 2014, she published a cookbook, Mastering My Mistakes in the Kitchen: Learning to cook with 65 great chefs and 100 recipes.
Dana is a sought-after public speaker. She has been a judge on Top Chef and Beat Bobby Flay as well as a speaker at SXSW, the Welcome Conference, TEDx Talk, and many other events.
She has a longstanding commitment to empowering people in marginalized communities through improving access to food and education. She's on the board of Food Education Fund and Hot Bread Kitchen, as well as the Food Council of City Harvest and God’s Love We Deliver.
